David Anthony

Hello, I'm David Anthony and although I've been to a couple AADND meetings, I am now making a more solid commitment to learning and hope to meet many of you beginning at the 1/12/08 meeting.

I live in Canton, work in Southfield but prefer the group in Ann Arbor. I’m married with two kids in High School.

At this point in life I would describe myself as a beginning .NET Developer pursuing educational excellence. I am a classic ASP developer and solid project manager looking to learn ASP.NET 2.0 and C#.NET using Visual Studio 2005 Professional. I also have VS 2008 Pro for use with version 3.5.

I am seeking an existing (or starting a) small study- or user-group of individuals with similar goals and beginning skillsets. It would also be great to have an intermediate-level person that may consider mentoring a small group of 6-8 novices.

Proposing we meet weekly, choose a book and assign and discuss chapters and findings. I am currently working through the books:

  • ASP.NET 2.0 All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies (which has 8 mini books that I think is a good starter)
  • Sams Teach Yourself Visual Studio® .NET 2003 in 21 Days
  • MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-536): Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0—Application Development Foundation

My goal by the end of 2008 would be a Microsoft MCTS certification (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist for .NET Framework 2.0 Web Applications).

Currently a project manager for a small .NET solutions company, I am looking to become adept in .NET. Please feel free to contact me at Detroit David at Hotmail, introduce yourself and your goals and we’ll see if we can connect. If you know of someone in a similar situation, please pass this along.

David
