Intentional programming

I just read an interesting article on intentional programming.
Here is the link

It seems that developers would concentrate on capturing the intentions of computer users rather then writing code. It is an interesting concept.

Your Thoughts?

Re: Intentional programming

It's interesting.  But if I had a nickel for every time I heard about a new concept that essentially let’s management write new applications with no knowledge of application development, "I" would be the wealthiest programmer in the world.  The major flaw that i find is like the mention in the article.  The end user doesn't "Really" know what they want.  I had a manager tell me one day why she wasn't interested in becoming a programmer, she said "I'm a 'you know what i mean' kind of person, and computers aren’t that way" And I have to agree.

I can see any software within the next 50 years that will make computers understand "You know what I mean".

Frankly, it's quite irritating.  Programming is all about making complex algorithms simple for the end user.  And that requires actual intellectual thought to accomplish.  I find it frustrating to think that anyone, developer or not, can sit back and say "Well, you don't 'Really' need to think to program".  Almost like some pretentious bastard is telling the developer community "Your not smart or well educated at all, I can replace you with a shell script"

Could you imagine a world where your non -technical boss is the lead "Programmer" on an "Intentional" software project?  *Shudder*

Re: Intentional programming

Oh, that is a scary thought.

It seems to me programming has been getting easier, makes you wander how much easier it will get.

Re: Intentional programming

I'm suprised you could read that last post.  Sounded like half cocked rambling lol.

Clear evidence that I must avoid typing when my hands are cold and numb.
